The Business Administration course is a basic course of 6 credits, which according to the European Credit Assignment in the UMH equals to 150 hours. The course length is quarterly and it takes place during the second quarterly of the first year of studies of the Degree in Law.
When the students have access to this course they have already had contact with its studio area through the course ¿Fundamentals of Business Economy¿ which takes place during the first quarterly of the same year. In this previous introductory course, they have a first contact with the business reality and also they get the basic ideas which constitute the fundamentals of the structure and business functioning which will be necessary for their future free exercise of the profession as well as for the comprehension of a business organization in the case of professionally exercise for others.
After this first contact, the course of Business Administration, has as a primary objective that the students acquire enough knowledge to understand the philosophy or set of criteria that supports the Business Direction and Company Management, which addresses it from a global perspective.
Following this theoretical framework the program deals, in first place, with a series of general concepts or fundaments of the business direction and management process which contextualize and conditions the action of the Business Direction in the redeeming of its first task ¿The Business Administration¿; that means, assuring the start-up and achievement of the business objectives through an interactive process which comprehends the phases of planning, organization, human resources integration, staff management and control. In second place, it deepens in the study of the Administration Process and Strategic Direction or set of Plans, Actions and Decisions which give place to the design and quantification of the Company Strategic objectives, following always its Philosophy and Mission.
With the above, it is pretended to develop some skills which will train, in general, to look, to assess and use relevant information to cover their necessities and objectives; to develop the ability of thinking and to use their abilities to confront and solve the challenges that life presents, especially, in the working environment and inside the heart of the organization. In a specific way, to make the future candidates capable of collaborate with co-workers, managers and any other person in their working environment, developing managerial skills and learning to use at maximum their potential.
This course also provides the basic knowledge which prepares the students for the study of the subsequent courses, especially the ones related to other phases of the process of Administration and Strategic Management.
