The evaluation of the course includes exams and the possibility to do an optional laboratory work that is highly recommended but not mandatory. If students opt to do the laboratory work, the final grade will be made by the course exams (55% of the final grade) and the laboratory grade (45% of the final grade).
Regarding the laboratory grading system, the students will do a series of field measurements to learn how to monitor and analyze the performance and functioning of mobile radio networks. The students will do an oral presentation to show the measured results and the analysis conducted over the measurements. The students and the lectures will agree on an appropriate date for the oral presentation, and the duration of the presentation will be approximately 60 min (including the questions & answers turn). The laboratory grading will available for the extraordinary calls of September and December. With regards to the course exams, the student can opt to do a single final exam or have continuous evaluation.
The final exam will include theory questions (such as multiple choice questions with penalty) and exercises. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. If the student opts to the final exam, it is not mandatory to do the lab exam although it is highly recommended. The final exam grading will be available for the extraordinary calls of September and December.
In the case of the continuous evaluation, the students will do 3 to 4 midterm exams during the course. These exams will include theory questions (such as multiple choice questions with penalty) and exercises. If a student fails one of the exams, they can repeat it once (and they can only repeat one exam). If they fail the same exam twice, the students will have to mandatory opt for the single final exam at the end of the course. To consider the continuous evaluation, the student must pass all 4-5 midterm exams, and the final exam grade will be the average of the 3-4 midterm exams. The lab exam is mandatory for those students that opt for the continuous evaluation system. The final exam grade for the continuous evaluation will be available for the extraordinary calls of September and December.
