Large numbers of viruses, phytoplasmas, and viroids cause significant diseases in fruit trees. In order to address this problem within a context of sustainable agriculture, possessing diagnostic tools that detect and identify these agents is required, as is being able to design prevention and control strategies. This course examines the diagnostic techniques currently used most for viral agents that affect fruit trees.

Methodology and grading
- Case studies: Learning through the analysis of actual or simulated cases in order to interpret and resolve them by employing various alternative solution procedures.
- Lecture: Pass on knowledge and activate cognitive processes in students, encouraging their participation.
- Written examination (70% - 90%) and participate in the sessions (10% - 30%).Written exam: 15 questions multiple response test (two questions wrong removes a correct) (70%) and two essay questions (30%).
