Industrialized societies, and especially our country, face dependence and fragility as one of the key challenges. According to the National Institute of Statistics, the population over 64 years will double in the next four decades and will represent over 30% of the total population due to aging (INE, 2012). Consequently, it is necessary for professionals of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences to know the effects of aging on the body, as well as the methodological considerations to take into account for the design and prescription of training programs which improve the quality of life of this population.
