Description

Principles of learning, modifications of behavior, psychopathology, and psychopedagogy applicable to humans at all stages of the life cycle in a way that prepares them to evaluate, synthesize, and implement occupational therapy treatment.

Professional interest

The intervention from occupational therapy is done comprehensive occupational performance areas of the person, taking into account both the runtime components (sensorimotor, cognitive and cognitive integration, psychological and psychosocial skills) as execution contexts (temporal aspects and the environment)

General competencies

Understand the structure and function of the human body at different stages of development.
Recognize the differences between normal human body function and its alterations, and determine the impact from population, demographic, environmental, social, and cultural health determinants, and their effects.
Ability to update, consolidate, and integrate new knowledge to improve the profession using continuous self-learning techniques and critical analysis.

Specific competencies

Understand, critically assess, and know how to use information sources to obtain, organize, interpret, and communicate scientific, health, socio-health, and social information, all the while maintaining data confidentiality.
Recognize health determinants in a population, multiprofessional resources and teams, prevention activities, and health maintenance and promotion, on both individual as well as community levels.
Listen actively, obtain and synthesize relevant information about problems and occupational demands of individuals and populations, and understand the content of this information.
Establish assertive interpersonal communication with all partners that are relevant during the occupational therapy process.

Professional competencies

Know and understand knowledge about pedagogy, psychology, and psychopathology applicable to humans at all stages of the life cycle that enables them to evaluate, synthesize, and apply occupational therapy treatments.
Know and understand knowledge about sociology and social anthropology that enables implementation of occupational therapy treatments in different institutions and social groups to prevent and address situations of social maladjustment and reaction.
Appreciate and respect individual differences, cultural beliefs, customs, and their influence on occupation and participation.

Methodology and grading

Methodology

Cooperative learning: Develop active learning through cooperative working strategies among students and promote shared responsibility to reach group goals.
Lecture: Pass on knowledge and activate cognitive processes in students, encouraging their participation.
Problem-based learning: Develop active learning strategies through problem solving that promote thinking, experimentation, and decision making in the student.
Project-based learning: Realization of a project to solve a problem, applying acquired learning and promoting abilities related to planning, design, performing activities, and reaching conclusions.

Grading

Theory Note: 70% of the final grade. Objective test consisting of two to three questions per topic. This test is a test type with three response alternatives. The correction formula is: [(a-e / 2) / N] * 10. Students will have to take into account that the contents of the exam will be based both on the subject explained in the classes and on the study bibliography recommended in each subject.

Practice mark: 30% of the final grade. It will be evaluated by a final test with five short questions one for each of the following practices: Measurement of conditioned behavior.
Classic conditioning of emotions.
Molding.
Token Economy.
Stimulus control.

These questions will be related to the contents worked in class, as well as the theoretical foundation of each one of them.
FINAL NOTE: Theory Note x 0.7 + Practice Note x 0.3.

To pass the subject it is essential to obtain a grade equal to or greater than 5 in each of the parties. In case of passing one of the parts of the subject (theory or practice) in February, the grade is maintained for the following calls for September and December of the same academic year.

Repeat exams are not allowed to upload grade.

It is not allowed to perform work to upload notes.
