The Plant Science and Microbiology Department at the UMH comprises two main units: Plant Science and Microbiology. The department participates in various undergraduate programs, as well as master’s and PhD programs. It also participates in research projects, in contracts for technological support activities and contracts for technical assessment and assistance with both public and private organizations. Several research teams make up its units. The Plant Science unit focuses its teaching, research, and technological scientific transfer efforts on expanding knowledge on plant science, crop protection, gardening and landscape architecture, horticulture, and pomology. Its Microbiology unit specializes in health sciences, biotechnological microbiology, environmental sciences, oenology, and other food processing industries.
