Practices in areas for professional application of the Physical Activity and Sports Sciences student: Health, sports training, education, management, and recreational sports.
The Grade in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences has two main work orientations: a biological orientation of human movement and a social orientation: a) the biological paradigm of human movement focus on sports performance, sports training, physical activity and health, and b) the social perspective focus on teaching physical education, sport management, recreation and leisure sports .
This matter represents the praxis regarding prior training of Graduates in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, because it is the first contact with the professional practice. It is necessary to pass previous courses related to the routes included in the education of the graduate.
The subject has a key role within the undergraduate education, due to the student must apply to a specific professional context all the knowledge and skills acquired during their studies. It aim is to provide students the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to start their professional activity. Students can choose according to their personal and professional interests in five different professional orientations: Sport Training, Sport Management, Physical Activity and Health, Recreation and Leisure Sports, and exceptionally teaching in Physical Education.
Sports Training stays focus on practical training on aspects of physical preparation and training in sport for young, high performance or elite sport. To authorize that stays is recommended to have passed the following subjects: Evaluation in Physical Education and Sport, Biomechanics of human movement, Nutrition and Sports, Methodology of fitness, and Sports training and planning.
Management stays are related to coordination, planning and management of centers and sporting events. It is recommended to have passed the following subjects: management and organization of centers and sport institutions, planning and management of sport, and Sports equipment.
Stays in Physical Activity and Health aims to develop practical training in prescribing and monitoring of non-competitive physical activity oriented health and wellness. It is recommended to have passed the following subjects: Teaching and Planning Sport and Physical Education, Methodology of fitness, Exercise prescription for health, Physical activity and adapted sports and Biological foundations of human movement.
Recreation stays intended to provide practical training related to leading and organization of physical and sports activities for the occupation of leisure and free time. It is recommended to have passed the following subjects: Teaching and Planning Sport and Physical Education, Learning processes of physical education and sport, Physical activity in nature, Recreational sport and physical activity.
For stays in teaching of Physical Education in educative centers, the student must be authorized according the bilateral agreements with secondary schools in the region, because there is a Master Program that regulated this area. In any case, these stays would be directed to a first contact with practical training teachers in secondary and high school level, and it is recommended to have passed the following subjects: Teaching and Planning for Physical Education and Sport, teaching-learning processes in physical education and sport, Physical education evaluation and sports, or Basic motor skills.
