Access
Royal Decree 861/2010, of 2 July, which amends Article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October, concerning the organization of official university education, establishes that for access to official master's education, applicants must hold either an official Spanish university degree or one conferred by a higher education institution in a country belonging to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that entitles access to master's education in such country.
Access may also be granted to those possessing a degree from an educational system outside the EHEA, without requiring its homologation, but following verification by the UMH that the degree represents an educational level that is equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degree and that it entitles access to graduate education within the issuing country. Access this way does not mean, under any circumstance, homologation of the degree the interested party holds, or its recognition for anything besides acceptance into a master's program.
Admissions
The Master's Board is charged with the admission process, and it is also responsible for performing the assessments on student progress and learning outcomes. Admission profile:
This master's program is aimed primarily at graduates in the health and life sciences, and includes medicine, biology, biotechnology, pharmacy, psychology, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy, among others.
Moreover, given the interdisciplinary nature of neuroscience research and the Institute's research groups, this program is also open to students with other training paths such as exact sciences, physics, or engineering.
The admission criteria are:
Academic record (accounting for 70%)
Previous experience (accounting for 30%)
Previous experience refers to activities the applicant has carried out at research laboratories that are complementary to and independent of the required tasks in their formal education. Also assessed will be the presentation of communications to students' congresses or having performed documentation tasks.
In any case, knowledge of English is required at a B2 level, as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. If this knowledge level cannot be verified, the Master's Board will assess it by giving the applicant a written comprehension test of a scientific text in English.
