This group proposes theoretical and practical analysis of the use of the methodologies, resources, and devices from the mass media and from information and representation technologies, using for such a methodological approach close to what is known as media archeology.
This approach comes from the social sciences and the humanities, but artistic practice and scientific observation also employ it as means for analysis and reflection. It is characterized by adopting a non-linear vision of the history of the mass media, searching for recurrences and elements that have not been privileged by traditional and orthodox history, and by placing emphasis more on the cultural and social reception of the products of the media than on strictly technological aspects.
Based on the analysis of such proposed methodologies, resources and devices, the group strives to incorporate the state of the question into the Spanish academic field. As this field of study is relatively new, we aim to create within our surroundings, with a referential and documentary framework, that enables growth of what internationally is already a relevant field of study.
Once the theoretical and practical conceptual framework is established, its application is proposed in the analysis of specific cases linked to the proposed lines of action, generating results in both the scope of theoretical and practical reflection, as well in the generation of devices and artefacts that seek interaction with the user, as a proper field of research based on practice, typical of fine arts.
