The Department of Engineering consists of two different sections: Agricultural Engineering and Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology.
The section of Agricultural Engineering, located on the Orihuela campus (Desamparados), is responsible for teaching the main engineering competencies in the Bachelor's in Agro-Food and Agro-Environmental Engineering and graduate programs leading to master's and PhD degrees directly related to engineering in the agricultural and food industry environment such as hydraulics, irrigation systems, rural electrification, mechanization, structures, farm buildings, agricultural facilities, and engineering projects. Our research activity is focused on the study and analysis of water and energy use efficiency in agriculture, the use of vegetal residues as building materials, the use of new building materials for fire protection, and project development in the agricultural and food industries.
The section of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology, located on the Sant Joan d’Alacant campus, is responsible for undergraduate teaching of the main core competencies in the Pharmacy curriculum, including pharmacokinetics and biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical technology, pharmaceutical care, pharmacy regulations and laws, pharmacy management and clinical pharmacy. The section offers graduate education leading to a PhD degree in the fields of pharmacokinetics and biopharmaceutics applied to clinical and preclinical drug development. Our research is focused on optimization of preclinical models for predicting drug pharmacokinetics, modelling and simulation in biomedicine, in particular for clinical trial simulation and population PK-PD analysis and pharmaceutical care and optimization of patient therapy.
