The Mechanical Engineering and Energy department teaches at the School of Engineering of Elche in the area of Industrial Engineering for degree coursers and Masters. The 34 faculty members are responsible for subjects related to the areas of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Machines and Thermic Engines and Engineering Projects.
The Electrical Engineering group works on several lines of research related to the prediction of electricity demand, consumption profiles and the efficiency of electrical installations and carries out studies and technical assessment of these areas.
The Energy engineering group works on the energy efficiency of thermo installations, the improvement of heat transference in tube exchangers and the development of condensation systems with less risk of spreading legionella’s disease. With respect to renewable energies, research is carried out about the function and practical application of photovoltaic solar and thermo installations.
The Mechanical Engineering Group investigates areas related to vehicles, pneumatics and machine engineering and also has an Acoustic and Vibration Engineering laboratory. The Vehicle laboratory also has official accreditation for issuing reports about cataloguing historical vehicles and vehicle reforms.
