This training will qualify the pharmacist to competently perform the general functions required in the various fields where this profession is practiced and, in particular, enables the pharmacist to work in the chemical-pharmaceutical industry and health care system as well as to perform experimental designs in the field of health sciences. All of this is done maintaining some ethical values of respect and ethical constraints that must be adhered to.Career opportunitiesRegulated profession: YesThe Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy qualifies its holders for the profession of pharmacist and enables them exclusively against other professionals to practice this health profession, employed either by someone or on their own account, under the situations required by Law 44/2003, of 21 November, on the Ordering of Health-Related Professions.Activities aimed at the production and storage of medicine, collaboration in analytical processes, roles in the fields of care, research, teaching, clinical management, prevention, and health information and education will correspond to pharmacy graduates, competing freely with other professionals.Specific professional activities of pharmacists:- Pharmacy. The owner of a pharmacy must be a pharmacist.- Hospital pharmacy. This requires specialization.- Technical management of drug distribution warehouses.- Positions of pharmacist in specific bodies serving public administrations (National Health, pharmaceutical inspectors of the Spanish National Health System, primary care, armed forces pharmacy).Activities a pharmacist can perform along with other professionals:- Pharmaceutical, veterinary, chemical, cosmetic industries.- Clinical analysis (biochemistry, microbiology, and parasitology).- Food and nutrition: nutritional consultant and bromatologist.- Education and research.Program CoordinatorFONT SANCHIS, ENRIQUEenrique.font(arroba)umh.es+34 96 665 8926REIG MACIA, JUAN ANTONIOjareig(arroba)umh.es+34 96 591 9481Program delegatesSOLER PEREZ, MIREYAPROGRAM DELEGATEgrado.farmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esGARCIA AGULLO, ELENAPROGRAM SUBDELEGATEgrado.subfarmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esDOMINGUEZ ALONSO, ALMUDENAFIRST YEAR GROUP DELEGATEgrado1.farmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esRUIZ CASCALES, SARA TERESAFIRST YEAR GROUP SUBDELEGATEgrado1.subfarmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esGRAU ORCAJADA, NAIARA ENCARNACIONSECOND YEAR GROUP DELEGATEgrado2.farmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esFORNER BONMATI, JAVIERSECOND YEAR GROUP SUBDELEGATEgrado.subfarmacia.segundo(arroba)delegacion.umh.esSOLER PEREZ, MIREYATHIRD YEAR GROUP DELEGATEgrado3.farmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esGARCIA AGULLO, ELENATHIRD YEAR GROUP SUBDELEGATEgrado3.subfarmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esMENA MARTIN, SERGIOFOURTH YEAR GROUP DELEGATEgrado4.farmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esBAILEN TORREGROSA, ABRAHAMFOURTH YEAR GROUP SUBDELEGATEgrado4.subfarmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esVELASCO MAYOL, LYDIAFIFTH YEAR GROUP DELEGATEgrado5.farmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esPEREZ CHECA, MARIOFIFTH YEAR GROUP SUBDELEGATEgrado5.subfarmacia(arroba)delegacion.umh.esCurriculumECTS credits: 300CoreRequiredElectivesExternal internshipsFinal Degree Project60196.513.5246ECTS creditsDesignThe pharmacy curriculum consists of 300 credits divided into five 60-credit academic years, each of which is divided into two semesters. The curriculum is distributed among modules, subject matter, courses, and semesters, and is detailed in the Courses section. Electives make up the Transverse and Professional Competencies Module, and they afford the student program competencies that are specific to the professional profile the student is seeking.Given that the pharmacist practices professionally within three large fields as are community pharmacy, industrial pharmacy, and hospital pharmacy, the program electives offer the future graduate six courses to promote training oriented towards these professional profiles:Students who are interested in working in a pharmacy should opt for courses such as DERMOPHARMACY and/or BUSINESS CREATION. Students who prefer working in industry are advised to take the courses of GENETIC ENGINEERING, BIOTECHNOLOGY APPLIED TO PHARMACY, DERMOPHARMACY, and/or BUSINESS CREATION.Future hospital pharmacists will need further training in areas related with hospital specialties, and some of this knowledge can be learned in courses such as DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF TROPICAL DISEASES, DERMOPHARMACY, and/or PALYNOLOGY AND ALLERGY.The program's electives are indicated in the Courses section, and are part of the Transversal and Professional Competencies Module. This module can be completed either by taking these electives or by recognition for a series of activities such as internal and external internships, language skills, taking UMH Continuing Education courses, professional work experience, attending University workshops and conferences, etc. For complete information regarding this recognition, click on the following link:
