Objectives

To understand the relevance of the History of Law for the interpretation and the implementation of the legal system.
To know the legal organization of the Medieval Spain.
To explain the reception process for the Ius Commune in Spain and its influence in the legal systems in the península

Subjects

Lecture topics

Reconquest and Repopulation. Elements and characters of the early medieval law.
Feudal law and local charters: lordships and municipalities.
The formation and diffusion of a common law: "Ius Commune".
The origin of a common law: the legislation of Alfonso X the Wise (The Royal "Fuero", The "Espéculo" and the "Partidas"). The regional law.
Monarchy and Medieval parliaments. The central and territorial Administration.

Laboratory topics

In parallel to each thematic block will be made a analysis, debate and study of the historic texts and scheduled workshop.
