The Department of Pharmacology, Pediatrics and Organic Chemistry, which also includes the area of inorganic chemistry, is a department with very diverse involvement in the health areas of education, research and care. Its members conduct their research activities in three of the University’s most prestigious research institutes: the Bioengineering Institute (Unit of Molecular Design and Synthesis, Unit of Clinical Trials and Pharmacology), the Institute of Neuroscience (Molecular Neurobiology) and the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (Molecular Recognition and Engineering and Biophysics of Proteins), in addition to research in pediatrics at the three University hospitals associated with the UMH. The department’s MDs carry out care activities at hospitals in Alicante, Sant Joan d’Alacant and Elche, and they teach medicine, pharmacy, podiatry, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, electronic engineering and industrial automation, biotechnology, and materials engineering.
