The Statistics, Mathematics and Informatics Department (DEMI) is comprised of the following four fields of knowledge: Teaching and School Organization, Statistics and Operations Research, Computing Languages and Systems, and Applied Mathematics. Its main mission is to train professionals in business statistics, computer engineering, and education, as well as contribute to the training of other professionals in areas of a statistical, computer, and/or mathematical-related nature.
The DEMI mainly participates in the undergraduate programs of Business Statistics and Computer Engineering in Information Technologies. It also provides instruction for many other undergraduate programs, especially those of engineering. The department also participates in the Master’s in Secondary Education Teaching, Vocational Training and Language Teaching, in addition to the Master’s in Research in Industrial Technologies and Telecommunication.
Besides this, the department supervises theses in the aforementioned fields of knowledge. Most DEMI faculty are affiliated with the UMH Institute “Center for Operations Research” (CIO).
