Professional interest

The practical training in hospitals, mutual, health centers and other specialized care centers, it is essential to achieve integration and application of all the knowledge and skills acquired during the Bachelor in Physiotherapy for later application, both in the clinical setting as social health.
The acquisition of skills at hand, improving confidence and problem solving with real patients, underlying the importance of this block of practical subjects essential for the development of future profession as a physiotherapist.

General competencies

Understand the structure and function of the human body at different stages of development.
Know the economic, cultural, and social factors affecting the health sciences professions, as well as the economic, ethical, and social implications of professional decisions.
Know current legislation regarding the exercise of the profession.
Recognize the differences between normal human body function and its alterations, and determine the impact from demographic, environmental, social, and cultural determinants upon the health of a population, and their effects.

Specific competencies

Acquire proper clinical experience that provides intellectual abilities and technical and manual skills that facilitates the incorporation of ethical and professional values, and that develops the capacity to integrate the acquired knowledge in such a way that, when finished studying, can be applied in hospital and outpatient environments, primary and community care too.
Acquire clinical management skills that include the efficient use of health resources and develop planning, management, and control activities in health care units where attention is paid to physiotherapy and its relationship with other health services.
Communicate effectively and clearly, both orally and in writing, with health care system users as well as other professionals.

Professional competencies

Understand and develop the theory of communication and interpersonal abilities.
Identify the changes produced because of physiotherapy intervention.
Know and apply theoretical fundamentals in the development of physiotherapeutic methods and procedures.
Be capable of assessing from the perspective of physiotherapy the functional state of the patient/user, considering physical, psychological, and social aspects.
Understand and apply manual and instrumental assessment methods and procedures in physiotherapy and physical rehabilitation, as well as the scientific evaluation of their usefulness and effectiveness.
Learn, design, and apply the various general intervention modalities and procedures in physiotherapy: massage therapy, electrotherapy, magnet therapy, hydrotherapy, balneotherapy, climatotherapy, Thalassotherapy, thermotherapy, cryotherapy, vibrotherapy, phototherapy, pressotherapy, therapies deriving from other physical agents, as well as fundamental aspects of ergotherapy, and other therapies within area of competency of physiotherapy.
Identify the most appropriate physiotherapeutic treatment in the different processes of alteration, prevention, and promotion of health, as well as in the processes of growth and development.
Identify the patient/user situation through diagnosis of physiotherapy care, planning the intervention, and assessing its effectiveness in a cooperative work environment with other health sciences professionals.
Know and apply the guidelines for good clinical practice.
Understand and perform the specific methods and techniques referring to the musculoskeletal system (including manual therapies, joint manipulative therapy, osteopathy, and chiropractic) to neurological processes, the respiratory system, the cardiovascular system, and other static and dynamic alterations. Specific methods and techniques that take into account the implications of orthopedic physiotherapy and reflex therapy techniques, as well as other alternative and/or complementary methods and techniques whose safety and efficacy is demonstrated according to the development of the science.
Understand ergonomic and anthropometric principles. Analyze, program, and apply movement as a therapeutic measure, promoting patient/user participation in the process.
Understand the fundamental concepts of health and the function of the physiotherapist in the health system.
Promote healthy lifestyles through health education.
Presentation and defense of the Final Degree Project before a university tribunal committee that consists of an assignment that integrates the training contents received and the competencies acquired.

Objectives (Learning outcomes)

01Adequately perform a History of Physiotherapy and set goals based on a proposal for a program of specific techniques to deliver the proposed treatment purposes.
02Perform a detailed written report including physiotherapy assessment and diagnosis based on the ICF, together with the evolution of the patient throughout the treatment applied.
03Perform skillfully different physiotherapy techniques, applying the standards of ergonomics, safety and control necessary for both the professional and the user / patient.
04Ability to organize and plan the work assigned in any workplace, for employment conditions, including available resources and include the time spent for therapy.
05Collaborate and actively participate in the activities planned in the service being able to critically evaluate and, based on evidence and scientific knowledge, the aspects related to the applied therapeutic and preventive program.
06Maintaining a level of updating knowledge on the skills and attitudes related to professional skills through a process of lifelong learning.

Grading

The evaluation of clinical stays will be made taking into account the following parts: - Attendance to the centers during the established period, positive evaluation of the tutor and Preparation of the memory of practices Each block of Stays (A, B, C, D) will have its own model of memory of practices, which can be consulted in the link below http://estanciasfisioterapia.umh.es/ The valuation percentages are established as follows: 50% valuation of the tutor, 50% valuation of In all the modules, it is necessary to have approved each of the parts (attendance, evaluation of the Tutor and memory of stays) to be able to surpass the asignatura.After having completed the seven subjects of Clinical Stages, to obtain the qualification of the last one performed by the student, must pass a practical examination consisting of the resolution of a clinical case with a patient. center or clinical center, in the presence of at least one of the EECC teachers. In the first place, the student will be given the medical diagnosis and relevant clinical data of a patient and for approximately 10 minutes the student will reflect and, if necessary, write down the actions to be performed to treat that patient: anamnesis, exploration, diagnosis of physiotherapy, treatment goals and physiotherapy treatment to be performed. Secondly, the patient will be presented to the student and the student will perform anamnesis, exploration, pose and conduct a session of appropriate treatment at the time of evolution of the case. This second part will have a maximum duration of 30 - 35 minutes. The grade of this exam will be: Apt or Not suitable. If the qualification is "Apt", in the last EECC issued by the student (usually EECC VII), the note obtained during the previous rotation will appear. In case the qualification is "Not suitable" in the last EECC, the rating of "Suspended" will appear. The student must appear in the next call until he can pass the test of the clinical case. The note obtained previously in the rotation will be saved and will become effective, and will appear in the record, when the examination with patient is surpassed. When the subject EECCVII is not the last one that the student is going to take, he / she MUST report it MANDATORY to the person in charge of the organization of the exam (professor Emilio Poveda) if this is not done, in the classification of EECC VII subject could appear as "Not presented" . Likewise, when the student finishes his / her last Clinical Stay (and this is not EECCVII), he / she must communicate again with the person in charge of the examination in order to carry out the clinical case test with the patient.
