Production and Manufacturing Systems is a basic course of 6 credits, which according to the European Credit Assignment in the UMH equals to 150 hours. The course length is quarterly and it takes place during the second quarterly of the second year of studies of the degree.
When the students have access to this course they have already had contact with the business reality and also they got the basic ideas which constitute the fundamentals of the structure and business functioning, through the course Fundamentals of Business Administration in the first year.
The course aims to familiarize the students with the performance criteria for conducting operations in a manufacturing company, the decision-makings of the production area, at both, strategic, tactical and operational levels, as well as provide knowledge, tools, skills and abilities that allow them to deepen and develop professionally in this professional field.
For this, the course is divided into 7 teaching units. The first two introduce the system of production operations at the company, focusing on issues and associated strategic decisions.
Units 3 to 7 focus on issues of tactical and operational nature, linked to planning, programming and control of manufacturing operations, inventory management and replenishment, the Just in time philosophy or some introductory aspects related to the management and quality control.
